Emergency Services

Dental emergencies can happen at any time and can be very painful and frightening. Examples of dental emergencies include a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth, severe toothache, bleeding from the mouth, or swelling. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek dental care as soon as possible.

At iSmiles Dentistry, we offer emergency dental services for our patients. If you experience a dental emergency during our regular office hours, please call us immediately, and we will do our best to see you the same day. If the emergency occurs outside of our regular office hours, our answering service will connect you with Dr. Nina, who can advise you on what to do next.

Common Dental Emergencies

Some common dental emergencies include:

  1. Toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm water and use dental floss to remove any food particles or debris that may be causing the pain. Avoid placing aspirin or any other painkillers directly on the affected area. Contact your dentist as soon as possible to determine the cause of the pain and receive appropriate treatment.

  2. Broken or chipped tooth: Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any broken pieces if possible. Apply a cold compress to the affected area to reduce swelling and pain. Contact your dentist immediately for evaluation and treatment options.

  3. Knocked-out tooth: Rinse the tooth with water, being careful not to touch the root. If possible, gently place the tooth back into its socket and bite down on a clean piece of gauze to keep it in place. If the tooth cannot be reinserted, place it in a container of milk or saliva and seek immediate dental care.

  4. Lost filling or crown: Rinse your mouth with warm water and try to reposition the crown or filling using dental cement or toothpaste. Avoid using superglue or any other adhesive. Contact your dentist as soon as possible for evaluation and treatment options.

In case of a dental emergency, it's important to remain calm and seek immediate care. Contact your dentist or an emergency dental service for prompt evaluation and treatment.
