What are dental crowns and bridges?

Dental crowns and bridges are restorative dental treatments that can help repair damaged or missing teeth. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that are placed over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their strength, shape, and function. They can be made of a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, and metal alloys, and are custom-made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth.

Dental bridges, on the other hand, are used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of two or more dental crowns that are placed on either side of the gap left by the missing teeth, with a false tooth (or teeth) in between. Like dental crowns, dental bridges can be made of various materials and are custom-designed to fit your mouth and match the color of your existing teeth.

What are our dental crowns made of?

At iSmiles Dentistry, we use high-quality, durable materials to make our dental crowns and bridges. Our dental crowns are typically made of porcelain, ceramic, or zirconia, which are strong and natural-looking materials that can mimic the color and translucency of your natural teeth. Our dental bridges are usually made of the same materials, and can also be made with metal alloys for added strength and durability.

During your consultation, Dr. Nina will discuss your options and help you choose the best material for your dental crown or bridge based on your individual needs and preferences.

What if I am missing several teeth in a row?

If you are missing several teeth in a row, a dental bridge may be a suitable treatment option for you. A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that is designed to replace one or more missing teeth in a row. It typically consists of two dental crowns that are placed over the adjacent teeth to support a false tooth, called a pontic, in the middle.

The dental crowns are typically made of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, while the pontic can be made of the same materials or zirconia. At iSmiles Dentistry, we use only the highest quality materials for our dental bridges to ensure durability, longevity, and a natural-looking result.

To determine if a dental bridge is the right option for you, Dr. Nina will evaluate your oral health, discuss your treatment goals and concerns, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
